OVERVIEW
The Villa is the in-town, seaside home of a family with deep roots in the community of Positano. Very well-tended and lovingly furnished, this private home offers an exceptional base for exploring the sun-drenched, dramatic coastline of the Amalfi Peninsula. The Villa easily combines with the Penthouse for a group of ten. Add the adjacent Il Pettirosso and you can accommodate 14. Positano sits along the south-facing Amalfi Coast, one of a string of villages which includes Amalfi, Ravello, Praiano and eventually Salerno. The eastern-most town along the peninsula's southern coast, Positano enjoys a convenient location just 30 minutes from Sorrento and 4 hours by car from Rome. Frequent boat service from Positano and Sorrento enable the visitor to explore by sea as well as by car, spending days taking in the breathtaking vistas, dramatic light and glinting ocean views.
The villa enjoys a convenient position in the village of Positano. From here, it is an easy 20 minute walk downhill to the town center, and 25 minutes to the beach. The return is uphill, on charming staircases or the winding road (longer but easier on the legs) and is a perfect time to window-shop. There are both taxi and bus services for moving around town, or to other points of interest along the peninsula. There are more than enough boutiques, restaurants and services to meet your needs. An accessible public parking lot is just yards down the street. Even in season the rates are reasonable.
Built in the 18th century, the Villa is the ancestral home of a family with a long and colorful history in Positano. The Villa's architecture is typical of the region, with arching, high-ceilinged rooms, white-washed walls and colorful, patterned tiled floors typical of the region. Carved out of the tufa hillside, all the principal rooms open to the south, with a commanding view of sea below and rugged hillside above. The entrance on the street leads to an internal staircase and the first floor, where you can step out immediately onto a broad terrace running the length of the Villa. The terrace is beautifully planted with bougainvillea, lemon and mandarin orange trees, roses, and other flowering plants overflowing their tall cotta pots. There are several choices for sitting out, including a large dining area shaded by trees.
