Burgandy Cottage

Set in wooded hills and pastures this sweet little cottage is perfect for a peaceful holiday. The many ponds and lakes on the owner’s estate can be used for fishing, and birdwatchers will be interested in the wild fowl which are often spotted here. This is a good base for exploring the Morvan regional park to the north and a nearer fascination is the Celtic dig and museum at Beuvray. The wine-growing region of Burgundy is to the east, with a visit to Beaune making a wonderful day trip, and the Roman and Mediaeval town of Autun is just to the north-east.

The interior is neat and simply furnished and cosy; the living room has a compact kitchen area in one corner, a large dining table and sofa and armchairs by the big open fireplace. South-facing, there is plenty of space for sitting outside.

Steps up to front door opening into living/dining room/kitchen with convertible sofa-bed; 2 bedrooms (steps down to each): 1 double, 1 small twin (80 cm); bathroom (bath with hand shower over); separate WC. Large grounds with lakes for fishing on owner’s property.

LOCATION: 2 km from Thil-sur-Arroux (butcher;café). 13 km SW of Etang-sur Arroux (most facilities). 28 km SW of Autun (all facilities).
