English Country Manor

English Country Manor is an example of a late Tudor and early Jacobean Court built in the Renaissance style, with Benedictine origins dating back to 950 A.D. The earliest recorded history of St. Catherines Court is found in a Court Roll dating from 1310. The house is built of Cotswold stone under a stone-tiled roof with stone mullion and leaded light windows. English Country Manor retains original fireplaces, oak spiral staircase and decorative stonework and paneling, some of which dates back to the reign of Henry VIII and Charles I. While it is a house steeped in history, it provides luxurious living in a comfortable family home with all modern-day conveniences. The interior of the home is in a superbly maintained condition; has log fires, a full central-heating system and has been refitted and decorated by the owners with warmth and careful regard to retaining the historic attributes of the home

Imagine Tudor banquets as you dine by candlelight in the Elizabethan dining room, with its original refectory table and dining chairs. Stained glass windows and a carved stone fireplace ass to the feeling of a bygone era. Each of the eight double bedrooms in the manor house is unique in its size and design and is distinctively furnished with comfortable beds and sumptuous fabrics set in an atmosphere rich with history. There are also two other children's bedrooms, making it a true family. The bathrooms, of which the Master Suite has two and the other bedrooms share four more, have each been tastefully refurbished and modernized with sensitivity to the historical qualities of the estate. The Ballroom has been left largely unfurnished because of its excellent acoustics and is ideal for parties, musical events and recordings. The Master Suite is decorated with Jane Seymour's own exclusive fabrics. The large, comfortable room also has stunning views of the rural countryside.

Simple pleasures beckon, such as taking romantic walks around the 14-acre estate, or for the more energetic, the tennis court sits appealingly amongst the trees. The magnificent Orangery is a delight for summer dining, whilst inside, the cozy family kitchen and adjoining breakfast room, equipped with modern day luxuries, still retain the feel of a house steeped in history. Relax in front of the fireplace with one of the many old volumes, challenge your friends to a game of bridge after dinner, or simply enjoy the view across the rolling English countryside in the cozy library.
