Historic Lucca Villa

La Chiusa is a private villa in Lucca built starting in the 15th c. Recently restored, it sleeps 12 people in comfort with 6 bedrooms and 5 baths. The villa is fully air-conditioned.
You'll enjoy the elegantly furnished living areas that open out to a terrace and garden with a pool. Daily house-keeping is included and chef is available to prepare dinners.


Villa La Chiusa is located 2 km outside the walled city of Lucca with downtown Florence about 1 hour away by car or train, half an hour to the sea; the ideal location to explore Tuscany and beyond.

Ancient stone walls surround this vast park-like garden planted with persimmon fruit trees, roses, wisterias, and grapevines. The sunny terrace is lined by terracotta planters with a profusion of geraniums. The outdoor "al fresco" seating group is a pleasant setting for coffee in the morning and drinks in the evening.

For your enjoyment in the summer-time, inside the private garden is a 26 foot diameter newly built round in-ground swimming pool.
Lucca was made famous and wealthy centuries ago by the silk trade. The artist-owner has a private drapery studio with historical fabrics on the property.

The care-taker has a private apartment on the property. The owner keeps a separate smaller house for herself at the far corner of the garden; this house is not seen from the villa.

Residing on the property (but not in the villa) are also 2 friendly medium size dogs and an older cat.

The high quality interiors include many antiques and period pieces, very skillfully decorated to make the villa feel like a home, not like a museum.

On the ground floor are the public rooms which open out to the terrace and garden.

The living room has a baby grand piano and numerous arm chairs and comfortable sofas for a large gathering.

The separate study has a sofa-group and fireplace; amenities include a large screen satellite TV, CD-stereo, and collection of travel books and magazines.

The Villa sleeps a total of 12 adults, with 6 bedrooms. An extra bed is available for a child. The grand staircase brings you up to the second level and into the most elegant sitting room, the Salone. From the Salone you enter the bedrooms. This second level has 4 double bedrooms, two of which are furnished in period style with frescoed walls and ceilings, and are pictured here. Of the 3 bathrooms, one has a large double Jacuzzi whirlpool. All 3 bathrooms have showers. On the ground floor are 2 bedrooms and each has a bathroom with shower. One bedroom has twin beds; the other is a double bed.
